How Hypnosis works
To understand how hypnosis works we need first to have knowledge of how the mind works. To use an analogy of a computer, the mind can be viewed as two distinct formats the conscious mind (computer desktop) and the subconscious mind (computer hard drive). The conscious mind deals with what’s going on now, can only hold small amounts of information and has a critical factor that allows or disallows information to be accepted by the more powerful subconscious mind.
Whereas the subconscious mind (computer hard drive) accepts information presented to it, records it, and plays it back when required. Hypnosis creates a receptive mind where we can take out what's not working and put in new software. The new software then changes behaviour into something more positive and helpful. This new behaviour could include giving up smoking, losing weight, removing phobias and many other issues once the mind/body connection is fully comprehended.
Willpower versus subconscious behaviour change
Willpower doesn't work, if it did no one would smoke cigarettes, be overweight, suffer anxiety or bite their nails. Therefore when I sit down with you, I like to use the analogy of a weed in your garden to explain how hypnosis works. When we use willpower alone to achieve a goal, it is just like pulling off the weed leaves. The weed is still there and will grow back, or in the case of losing weight the root cause has not been addressed and over eating ensues. Hypnosis or specifically hypnotherapy addresses and removes the root cause, in the analogy of the weed in your garden the root is removed, which means the leaves simply wither and the problem goes away. By utilising the power of your subconscious mind behaviour change takes place and this means you will be naturally pulled towards activities that support the realisation of your new goals.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy utilises the state of Hypnosis to effect beneficial therapeutic change. Hypnotherapy is a tried and tested procedure to help improve physical and mental well-being of the individual utilising the power of the mind. It has been said that many of us only use 10% of our minds, which means we have a vast resource of untapped power available to us. With the help of your trained Basingstoke Hypnotherapist 4 You, you will be shown how to make many improvements in your life. Your subconscious mind will be accessed under a state of hypnosis allowing the attainment of your goals through your improved thought processes.
Why is it that someone may really want to quit smoking, but still continues?
Why is it that someone may really want to lose weight, but continues eating too much?
The definition of madness can be defined as “keep doing the same things, but expect different results”.
The 90% untapped resource of your mind is now available should you choose to access it with the guidance of your trained hypnotherapist. You will be placed into a state of mind enabling your subconscious mind to be accessed allowing beneficial change to occur; this process is referred to as Hypnotherapy.
